WD15EARS-00Z5B1 Clicking Data Recovery

This is one great case study shared by Dolphin Australia reseller who were using DFL-SRP USB3.0 for data extraction version 1.507 and Dolphin head and platter swap tools.

Patient HDD ID: WD15EARS-00Z5B1, 6 heads, Family: WD dragonfly3

When this patient hard drive was received, the hard drive kept clicking, the engineer opened the hard drive in clean room and found one donor drive with the same PCB number and model number and then performed the head swap.

After the head swap, users connected the patient drive to DFL data extraction program and found it’s slow and some weak heads and the engineers selected to use selective head image and image only head 1, head 2, head 3 and head 4, it’a about 70% when the progress bar reached, the drive got hung there.

The engineer managed to stopped the image and went to clear the translator and then regenerate the translator, surprisingly, each sector, each head went very smoothly and all data was imaged successfully.

Please check how happy our engineer was when he recovered his data for his client:
