2tb seagate barracuda that is not accessible from Central Africa

Hello Dolphin Data Lab,

How are you? I have a 2tb seagate barracuda that is not accessible, it’s spinning up and then does 2 consecutive scratch like noise .

After that the disk is busy. I’ve tried to change the PCB with the exact same working PCB, I got the same noise and no data.I tried to put the original ROM on the donor PCB, now it’s not even accessible.

Can you recommend a course of action? If possible, could you tell me your price to recover such problem? The client may be interested in sending the disk to you, if need be. Also I got an issue with the COM cable, it says error code 2.

Best regards,
Sam

For Seagate patient HDDs with unusual noises, users must be very careful, users must check the COM terminal messages to further diagnose the HDD failures.

It’s the best the user can open the HDD and check the platter surface and heads information. If scratched or head damaged, must fix the physical failure first.

This kind of cases couldn’t be fixed by PCB swap. For common IT engineers, please keep the original PCB always.
