ABIOS – Abbreviation used for Advanced Basic Input/Output System. Initially installed in IBM PS/2 micro computers running the OS/2 Operating System, ABIOS controls the motherboard in determining how it runs other hardware of the system. It provides support to store memory to a certain part of the computer so that other programs do not interrupt its smooth running and execution.

Abios is a type of BIOS that is capable of supporting calls in Protected Mode.Today all new computers have a BIOS which is an Advanced BIOS.
